The cosmetic candidate

In the 2004 presidential election, John Edwards was the cosmetic candidate. Who can forget this?

This year Barak Obama seems to be the cosmetic guy.

First there was the swimsuit issue.
Then Biden puts his foot in his mouth and calls him articulate and bright and clean-cut and a nice-looking guy, causing much controversy.

After all that, I thought we were past the looks stage of the Obama sell, but I was wrong. I was running the usual Saturday morning errands and had Larry Kudlow (I love Larry) on the radio, when ABC news comes on and the reporter starts talking about the "fresh-faced Obama".

All I could think of was, "are we looking for a presidential candidate or are we looking for a boyfriend to take home to mother?"

When did exfoliating and moisturizing become presidential criteria?

Then I thought the news item sounded like a pre-fab soundbite. Sure enough, here it is, Fresh Face Obama Enters the Race.

And we're supposed to take this candidate seriously?

Or is this just going through the motions until the Democrat primary annoints Hillary with Obama for VP?
