BREAKING NEWS: INGRID BETANCOURT RESCUED

The Colombian government has officially announced that (my translation)
Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos has confirmed that former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, three American citizens and 11 Colombian soldiers who were captive by the FARC were rescued during a military operation.
This is a huge breakthrough in the war against the FARC. Colombia has rescued the world's most famous hostage in a military operation, after France and others had failed through every other means.

John McCain is traveling in Colombia today. Earlier today, the WaPo's blog was saying, McCain Travels South, Searching for Message. Well, the message is clear: Colombia, America's most important ally in the region, is winning its war against terrorism, and winning big.

I'll add to this post later today as news develop.

Special thanks to Siggy for the tip.

This is actually a very big victory for President Bush, our troops and in the War on Terror. Terrorism is losing its hold on the imaginations of even the brutes.

The press will never, never give Bush credit for making the world a safer place, nor will the dems. But I'm going to feel a lot LESS safe, when Bush is out of office, esp. if that idiot Obama is elected. He's clearly clueless.
