Cairo: Happy Hour cancelled at the Grand Hyatt

EGYPT GRAND HYATT BANS ALCOHOL, BOTTLES THREW [sic] IN THE NILE
No more alcohol in the British pub at the Cairo Grand Hyatt, where zealous employees last week threw in the Nile alcohol worth almost a million euro.
That's $1.7 million worth of good booze.

Interstingly, the article also mentions
"This is a Saudi interference in Egypt's economy and private affairs if they strictly apply religious traditions then they ought to move away from entertainment tourism which contradicts religious beliefs in many ways," said the source.

Now they've gone too far! Let them try to take my martini*, they'll find out what a "jihad" really is!

The region doesn't have decent schools, decent infrastructures or decent economies.

Good thing they know their priorities and know what to focus on.

...reaffirming while I will never, ever visit any country in the Middle East other than Israel.

Banning booze at the airport...geez. How lame could these God-sick peeps possibly get?

I wonder just how many of those bottles of booze got fished out of the river before they ever reached the delta.

Saudis have invested in a lot of hotels and properties worldwide, and they are the very worst of the extremists. When they start doing this more often, people may finally start to get peeved with them.

They have been doing stuff like this for years. Who has been building all those mosques?

They've been building mosques, they've been spreading extremism, they've been funding terrorism worldwide, they've been stirring up trouble throughout the Middle East and they've lied about how much oil they've got - but our government (and the British government) still loves our moderate Saudi allies. I'm just wondering what it will take to get them peeved..
