Obamarama Wright roundup
Why'd Obama Join Trinity in the First Place?
Which, put another way, means that Obama's decision to join Trinity was probably the opposite of cynical. Trinity was the place where, despite the potential pitfalls--and he must have noticed them early on--Obama felt most true to himself.

I wouldn't dare judge someone else's religious convictions but I think the ambitous young Obama joined Trinity for the same reasons he left Occidental. The former was going to advance his carreer and the latter, though providing him with an excellent education, was merely a good local college and thus not very helpful if one has national ambitions.
Epipany, a word still much loved in the salons of the left, that moment when Obama went from being Barry to Barack. When he discovered his ambitions were outstripping his resources. That moment when he simply decided that practically anything was justified in his pursuit of position as long as he didn't get caught.
