The homoerotic Jesus, or, The EUropeans are their own worst enemies

WARNING: LINKS NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK

Deb sent this link: Homoerotic Jesus Images or Gay Sex Christ

Both links refer to this story: The museum of Vienna's Roman Catholic Cathedral staged a retrospective of Alfred Hrdlicka's work (whom the article refers to as "Austria's cherished artist"), which includes a drawing of what Hrdlicka himself describes as "a homosexual orgy" of the Apostles during the Last Supper:
the most disputed work was 'Leonardo's Last Supper, restored by Pier Paolo Pasolini' which showed cavorting Apostles sprawling over the dining table and masturbating each other.
Not surprisingly, Alfred Hrdlicka is a communist and atheist.

Museum director Bernhard Boehler says he sees no blasphemy, that the museum never intended to offend people but that art should be allowed to provoke a debate, and that
the art debate can be compared to the Danish cartoon row, where an image of the Prophet Mohammad with a bomb in his turban enraged some in the Muslim world who saw it as blasphemous.
Except that I don't see any Catholics asking for Hrdlicka's or Boehler's heads on a platter, but I digress.

That the Catholic hierarchy would allow such display of pornography at a Catholic museum shows that the moral compass of Europe has disintegrated to the point where even religious authorities, who are called to lead in matters of morality, can not distinguish between right and wrong.

Political correctness and moral equivalence have supplanted a moral compass. Because of that, the EUropeans have become their own worst enemies.

Why ask for their heads when their actions indicate there might not be anything inside them? It would be like punishing the retarded for not understanding the difference between potty training and Aristotle's Poetics.

I agree with the above statement. And add, if he wants to hang the picture up in his own house that is fine. But there should be a limit on how far you can go in public.

America is rapidly losing her moral compass. And young people don't even know what moral compass means.
Pitiful. Our country will suffer the consequences of its actions.

Has Andrew Sullivan opined on this yet? I'd be interested to hear his thoughts. As I recall he called The Passion of the Christ "porn".
