Sarko walks out on 60 minutes, 70,000 walk out on NHS

Sarkozy walks out of TV interview: Sarko wasn't going to talk about his divorce, and he didn't:
"If I had something to say about Cecilia, I would not do so here," he said before cutting off further questions.
I like that.

No Pasaran has the link to 60 Minutes

Update, Friday November 2:
Kyle-Anne Shiver:
So, to all our American men, who have been cowed by the unisex armies of overbearing loud-mouthed gossips, I say it's high time you throw off the shackles of politically-correct indulgence and join the Sarkozy revolution. You too can be real men again, and all the real women will love you for it. Catty gossip has no place in the public discourse, and simply standing your ground and saying so, in no way makes you a "Male Chauvinist Pig," or even a borderline "sexist." It simply makes you a self-respecting gentleman of the highest order.
Amen to that!

The latest trend in outsourcing:
Record numbers go abroad for health treatment with 70,000 escaping NHS
Record numbers of Britons are travelling abroad for medical treatment to escape the NHS - with 70,000 patients expected to fly out this year.

And by the end of the decade 200,000 "health tourists" will fly as far as Malaysa and South Africa for major surgery to avoid long waiting lists and the rising threat of superbugs, according to a new report.

The first survey of Britons opting for treatment overseas shows that fears of hospital infections and frustration of often waiting months for operations are fuelling the increasing trend.
Meanwhile at the Times of London, Quack Michael Moore has mad view of the NHS.

I expect Michael Moore will be rewarded with an Oscar and a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.

Maybe John Edwards should move to Britain. His ideas about the world might be better suited there. See my blog article today on this topic: http://mklasing.wordpress.com/2007/10/29/john-edwards-is-simply-a-communist-stalin-would-be-proud/

Great Blog by the way--glad I was turned on to you.

70000/United Kingdom — Population: 60,776,238 (July 2007 est.) =.001 percent of the country left the country for medical help...compare that to 40% of the US population who are just out of luck!

40%!!??!! Where in the world did that statistic come from? From the book of statistics made up by socialists? Seriously--40% of Americans are not out of luck--nearly every major metropolitan city and numerous others have "County Hospitals" where the indigent and the illegal immigrant can receive "free" health care. Well it isn't really "free"--I am helping to pay for it as well as all other tax paying citizens.

40% of people that comment as "Anonymous" have no idea what they are saying.

Thanks bjeremy!

We need to be reminded of our sources of information and their biases. Lord knows those quoting the times don't want you to know their obvious, documented bias.

State run hospitals appear to be a bad idea, about as bad profit-driven private health insurance. Give me a single payer system and primarily privately run hospitals and clinics.

Even the daily mail columnist who called Moore a quack still thinks universal healthcare is better than the system we have in the US.

He just piles on Moore for being biased... which noone (really, noone) pretends otherwise.

It's not about Moore, it's about decent healthcare for all, not just those who produce more in our capitalist system.

Here's what government-run healthcare looks like.

Exactly Fausta--if I need a Kidney transplant, waiting in a government "Passport-style" line for my surgery sounds awesome! If we go this route in American maybe they can combine healthcare with toilet paper so while standing in line we can get both--then we would at least be a step ahead of old Russia.

millions leave the US each year for medical dental.
The USA is the ONLY industrialized country with a national health plan
I pay for health care for many others vets, government employees okd people young people: if it is good enough for them I WANT IT TOO

It still sounds better then what I've got. I have my own company and have to pay $650 a month to cover my family of 3. This covers only 70% of fees and $3000 deductable which means it is still very exspensive to seek medical care. Last year my kid had to go to the emergency room for a few hours because she won't stop vomiting and was baddly dehydrated. We got over $1500 in bills with our insurance for what was merely an IV and some vomit supression medicine and a year later the hospital is still sending us more bills! About the same time, I needed to go to the Doctor because I injured my foot and didn't because I couldn't afford the bills, on top of the hospital bills and the insurance premiums. This is nuts. I'm paying through the nose for something I can't even use, but if I don't have it, and something major happens like cancer, we will be wiped out.

I suppose, selfishly, it would be better if the rest of the Country paid for my health care. Then I wouldn't have to take responsibility for it. In fact, maybe I should let the Government pay for my home, my car, my food, my dog, my fish, my landscaper, my car insurance, my cable, my internet service, my haircuts, my multi-vitamins, my cell phone, my school loans, my parents Christmas presents...

You may be on to something.
